The slime found herself wondering why anyone would make a cursed item; did the person with the interesting shop make it? Or did they only unravel it? Or did someone else unravel it and give away cursed strings? The whole thing felt suspicious to her.

The halfling noticed him, and he waved him over. “Come here, friend. You look like you are starving and feeling down again.” Wayra sheepishly approached. “I am hungry,” he agreed.

Wayra counted the coins; there were enough to buy forty-one tacos. That made him feel good; now, he had time before he next went hungry.

Wayra decided that the best thing for them to do was to leave and get to the other side of the tunnel. He couldn’t breathe underwater, after all. Even though the slime seemed to be able to understand...

She wondered why he got so lively. She was just cleaning him up, mostly. The sword pulsed. Do not try to eat me. I will not let you.

It had been three days. Wayra was not optimistic. First, taller people had been difficult to find. Second, the ones that he had found didn’t even try to talk to him; they just drew their weapons, and he was sent running off into the brush.
